        The Western Railway Project is one of the largest infrastructural projects in Hong Kong and its employer is Kow Loon & Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC). This project includes four sub-projects ¨C Tuen Mun Station (CC-213), Siu Hong Station (CC-212), Yuen Long & Long Ping Stations (CC-202) and Permanent Way ¨C Northern Area (CC-1820), with total contract value HKD 4,928,000,000.

        The construction of this project was commenced on Aug.1999 and completed on Oct. 2003.

        1) Yuen Long & Long Ping Station (CC 202)

        The main structures of the two stations are reinforced concrete cast in situ frame structure, 3-story of each and the total construction area of the two stations is 80,000 square meters.

        Yuen Long Station: the total length is 420 meters, base is drill-filling piles totaling 225 pieces and the roof age is reinforced concrete cast in situ slab structure.

        Long Ping Station: the total length is 378 meters, base is drill filling piles totaling 445 pieces, oval steel roof. The piling base is: the largest diameter of pile 3.0 meters and the longest near 139 meters.

        2) Tuen Mun Station (CC 213)

        It is a elevated station divided into two stories, the top story is platform and the lower is hall of the station. The total length of the station is 390 meter and the width 55 meters. The total floor area is 54,000 square meters. The Tuen Mun Station is a conjunction station with light railway, therefore the hall of the station will be connected to the new elevated Xin Fa Station, and the ground floor will be connected to the He Tian Station of light railway.

        3) Siu Hong Station(CC 212)

        The total length of the station is 1,488 meters and the construction area about 50,000 square meters. The main structure is reinforced concrete cast in situ frame structure, in 3-story. Its roof is steel structure. The two ends of the station are elevated bridge structure, drilling pile base with about 1,344 pieces of piles, the diameters of drilling holes varied from 205 mm to 2,500 mm totaling 11 types, and the aggregate length of the piles is 31,000 meters.

        4) Permanent Way ¨C Northern Area (CC1820)

        The total length if the tract is more than 28 km in thee structures that are: float slab track 26.5 km (float slab 20,273 pieces), least vibration track 1.5 km and the ballast track more than 100 meters.
